Name: Kohana Arakawa
Title/ Alias: Clan name: Crying Shadow
Age: 15
Rank: Gennin
Village: Sangagakure (sand village)
Chakra Type: Water
Strong in: Genjutsu
Weak in: Taijutsu
Personality: She is happy, that is all she can be and all she can ever be. She does not know, understand, or show hate, sadness, pain, or even love. These things are not part of her because she has yet to really feel them. Her human programing is particularly slow, because she is barely human. In her eyes all things are equal.
She is learning to understand love though. She is learning to feel. Since she met Gaara, she has come to 'like' him because they are, in some ways, similar. They have yet to speak (besides mission breifing...) She watches him from afar.
She may be learning to love others at the moment, but all she really wants is to understand pain. If she can understand that, she can be human. She can understand more about the society she lives in.
She doesn't yet understand love completely, or even truely feel it. The emotion is locked somewhere on her demon side, and to let it out she needs a key. But to find this key is going to take some time. Venturing in one's own mind can be a terrible experiance for anyone despite what they feel.
Physical Description: Kohana is very short, about 4'9". She has long, curly, navy blue hair. Her eyes are violet, which gives off an exotic look. Her body is black, darker than midnight, darker than fear. She is curvy, and not at all skinny, but not fat either, just average. On her forehead is a purple drop shaped jewel. It keeps her powers in check.
She wears a black, cat like hat her father gave her when she was little. It has huge ears and golden eyes that seem to shine with their own life. Her outifts often change. One day she may wear pants, the next a skirt. The only thing that doesn't change it's place is her forehead protector located around her neck.
Clan: Arakawa
Equipment: Kunai, shurikan, medical kit, smoke pellets.
Bloodlimit/Special Abilities:
Playing with Shadows (is not a jutsu)
(can be used by Arakwas only)
Arakawa's have the ability to play with the shadows, with out the special use of chakra.
Jutsu:
Shadow Dance (Kage Dansu no Jutsu)
Info: Instead of handseals the user dances. It is complex and very few Arakawa actually know it. This ninjutsu causes mutiple forms, similar to yourself, but a complete shadow. You and these shadows may attack. They are much like the Kage Bunshins, but do not disapear until User sneds them away. They are shadow creatures comming to assist the user through the veil.
Dark Blade (Kuro Bure-do no jutsu)
Info: User creates a shadow around their hands, making small dagger like forms. They are sharp, but no as sharp as the Dark Daggers.
Users: Arakwa only
Grasshopper : Shadow Smoke (Kage Kemuri no jutsu)
Info: user can make a shadow, which enemy may not see through. It lasts for only one minute, in an area of fifteen feet.
Users: Arakawa Only
Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique (Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu)
Info: This jutsu causes the target to see a horrifying vision. First, an imaginary circle of leaves will spin around and envelop the target, falling away shortly after. After a short period, the illusion will begin. This is to make the illusion more convincing, since the user will likely have moved before the illusion sets in.
She also knows the basic academy student jutsus: Transformation Technique, Rope Escape Technique, Body Replacement Technique and the Clone Technique.
Personal History: She was born into her clan, a child insane. Her life and everything about it was done as is costum to Arakawa living. She began learning to play with the shadows and their creatures since the day she could speak and walk. She learned of the creatures behind the veil, the creatures that loved the sun, longed for the sun, and the souls that saw the sun everyday.
The environment she lived in was not one of prejudice or hate because of her insanity. She had not yet been intrudced into human society, and would not be until she was ready for academy training, which would not be for a long time.
Kohana was born with only 1/13 of a human side, the rest of her was locked away somewhere inside of her. Her life was different than the other Arakawa children. She had to taught in special sealing circles so that she did not kill all who stood in her way. The neklaces that Arkawa's wear were too weak to keep her from true and total insanity. They had to comission their forgers for something much much stronger. They fused a sealing jutsu into a Chakra (a small rain drop shaped jewel) This would keep her 'demonic'soul in check.
Kohana learned everything she was supposed to learn about her friends, the shadows, before she was sent to the academy. There she was despised. Most other Arakwa children got along fine with their human counter parts. Kohana did not. When she got hurt she smiled at the ones her hurt her. When other cried, she merely laughed. She seemed cold and heartless, but it was not true. Often, when she was in pain, she wanted to scream out, cry, but did not know how. She she did the only thing she did know how to do. She smiled.
The other children feared her. Where other children screamed, she laughed. They thought she was some sort of evil demon, no one they had ever met did that. There was only one other child feared more then she. His name was Gaara. She met him once, when she first went the the academy. He was feared becaues he was understood. The demon locked inside of him was something everyone knew. While the 'demon' she was, was unkown. She was unsure how to act around this 'other demon'. Gaara had a demon of the sun, she was a demon of the dark. She liked Gaara, and she... hated, no she could not hate, but she had some feeling of confusion when she was around him. He could cry... she wished she could cry.
Kohana remained happy. She smiled, she laughed, and she was feared because she was happy. But she did not learn to hate, she did not learn to cry. She often told herself that humans were to be protected, and thats how she lived, always forgiving humans for their misundstandings.
Half way through the academy her mother contracted a sickness. The doctors were unsure of what it was. But every other Arakawa knew. Her necklace had been taken, by a shadow bird. Many people were searching for it, but the sun was slowly killing Kohana's mother. But the thing was she smiled and laughed, when she realy wanted to frown and cry.
She seemed a monster, but nopbody seemed to understand anything about her, and she could not gain enough curage to talk to the holder of a Sun Demon, Gaara. When her mother died she couldn't cry. Her people knew she was sad. She would be sad if she could. Her father often hugged her and acted as if she could cry. She thanked him everytime.
She went to the chuunin exams with sand villagers, but dropped out. She was not sure she could answer the question. her team, who already hated her, were angry with her. She merely smiled and asked them if they would come eat with her. The told her no, with an exasperated sigh and left.
She is planning on going to the next chuunin exams...

Sample RP:
"The thing about being what you are is that, when you try to be what you are not, you end up hurting yourself. That is what i have learned over the years. Being an almost non-human and trying to act like one was only caused me much confusion. Pain is alien to me, it is hard for me to understand. I am sure i have fekt it before, but how to show that i feel pain... i do not know. Yes, being what I am, a demon... I feel as if i am a wolf in sheep's clothing. Acting a part in a play. I do not feel human, and interactions between me and them is limited. To be what I am not is destroying me, though i can not show my pain. I want to cry, to scream, to be something else. My demon soul claws at my seal to get out. I am locked away. It sounds odd, but is for the benefit for those that loathe and love me. I do not wish to harm my people, my family. They are the only ones who also understand. They lock themselves away to protect humans. Humans... Sometimes... sometimes i wish they would just go away, let me be me. I no longer wish to be put in a cage. Freedom, just for a moment, to feel, just for a moment, that is what i wish for... but i think... i think i fear it. I think i am at war with myself. Often, i lay in bed, awake, unable to sleep. I star into the darkness, my shadow friends, the ones beyond the veil, try to comfort me. I smile, i laugh, when i want to scream and cry." (monologue by Kohana)
She sat very very still, listening to the noises around her. Her eyes were closed, she feels she must look as if she were a shadow. A shadow in clothing. She knows the people are staring, are whispering, are telling each other to stay away from the 'demon child'. She smiled, She is sure that she did. To think, she smiled. All she wants to do, truely, is kill. She wishes for a moment that a demon would come. torture is really her only vent. She does not particularly enjoy it, but sometimes it is the only way, when you are really a monster. A monster trying to be a dove. She opened her eyes. The street had people walking down it, carrying groceries, children, little ones playing games. There were a dog or two. One came and sniffed Kohana and began to bite at her hands, his bum in the air, his tail wagging. She happily obliged, petting his head, allowing him to bit down on her hands. She didn't noticed the sharp, intnense, and odd feeling shooting up her arms. She bled. Just a little and the dog licked the wound apologetically. She didn't mind. The bleeding showed her that she was alive. That she was indeed there. A child called ergently to the dog. When the dog turned and ran to the owner she could hear the child tell the animal 'careful sandie, she'll eat you, she's a demon'. She laughed. Gods above she wished she understood what it ment to be sad... but she laughed, she smiled.
